A glamorous female angler was swept to her death by a powerful river current as she fished with her boyfriend on a sandbank.
Victim Nerica Mara Monteiro Loth, 34, and her boyfriend had been fishing in the Araguaia River, near Sao Miguel do Araguaia, in the state of Goias, in Brazil, on 20th April.

A glamorous female angler was swept to her death by a powerful river current as she fished with her boyfriend on a sandbank.
Victim Nerica Mara Monteiro Loth, 34, and her boyfriend had been fishing in the Araguaia River, near Sao Miguel do Araguaia, in the state of Goias, in Brazil, on 20th April.
Nerica, who was active on social media and often shared photos of her outdoor lifestyle, had gone fishing with her boyfriend and a group of friends in a popular but dangerous part of the river.

They were reportedly wading across a sandbank when both she and her boyfriend were suddenly caught in a surge of fast-moving water.
According to reports from local media and the Fire Department, the couple was dragged downstream by the strong current. Despite desperate attempts by those nearby to help, Nerica vanished beneath the surface.
Her boyfriend, whose name has not been disclosed, was also swept away but managed to survive after locals pulled him from the river and into a nearby boat. Witnesses described a scene of chaos and panic as others in the group scrambled to rescue the couple.

The emergency services were called immediately, and fire department divers launched a search operation. Nerica's body was discovered the next day, approximately five miles (7 kilometres) downstream from where she was last seen.
The incident has left the local community in shock, with tributes pouring in for the much-loved businesswoman. Friends described her as cheerful, hardworking, and full of life.

The authorities have since used the tragedy to issue fresh warnings about the dangers of river currents, particularly during periods of increased rainfall or when venturing into unfamiliar areas. The Araguaia River, known for its natural beauty, is also known for its treacherous undercurrents.
Nerica’s death is now under official investigation. Officials continue to urge caution for anyone visiting the river, especially during recreational activities such as fishing or swimming.
