A rising star in Cambodian football and former national team captain has died in a horrific motorbike accident at the age of 24.
Tes Sambath, a promising talent in Southeast Asian football, lost control of his motorbike and veered off the road and into a stream where he drowned.
The incident took place in Phnom Penh’s Kamraeng village, located in Dangkor district’s Sak Sampov commune.

The local authorities confirmed that Tes, a beloved husband and father, had died at about 10:30 pm on 20th April.
The defender, who captained the national team before being signed by Visakha FC in 2021, was found lifeless by locals along with the motorcycle in the Teuk Sak Sampov canal.

The club said in a statement: "On behalf of the management, staff and all players of Visakha FC, we are profoundly shocked and saddened by the news of the passing of Tes Sambath.
"We are all deeply grieved by the loss of such an important Cambodian football talent. We send our heartfelt condolences to Sambath’s family, and we pray for his soul to find peace and eternal rest."
