Russian police have released a shocking video to warn parents following an incident in which a 10-year-old boy was run over by a lorry on a pedestrian crossing at a roundabout.

The incident, in which the boy had moved away from the crossing in order to go in front of the lorry where it was impossible for the driver to see him, took place in Ussuriysk, in Primorsky Krai, in Russia, on Monday, 21st April.

CCTV footage of the scene shows traffic slowly making its way onto the roundabout as the 10-year-old boy approaches the pedestrian crossing on his bicycle.

He gets off his bike and waits for a moment as the lorry moves onto the zebra crossing, leaving it blocked.

The lorry had stopped behind other vehicles to allow more cars on the roundabout to pass, and the impatient boy began to cross the road in front of the lorry when the tragedy happened.

As the cars in front of the lorry started to move forward, the boy crossed in front and was knocked flat.

The HGV then runs him over before the vehicle in front of the lorry comes to a stop, and a horrified passenger gets out to signal to the lorry driver to stop.

The Primorski cry police said in a statement: "The duty unit of the OMVD of Russia for the city of Ussuriysk received a report of a Sitrak truck hitting a minor near house No. 3 on Sadovaya Street.

"The management and employees of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate, the investigative and operational group of the police department, and the ambulance team immediately arrived at the scene of the accident."

Medics arrived on the scene and could only confirm that the 10-year-old boy, who has not been named, was dead.

The authorities are investigating the deadly incident.
