This is the action movie moment a trucker drives his burning lorry through the streets with his horn blaring in a desperate bid to avert a disaster.

Flames had engulfed the huge lorry in Dige, Shandong Province, eastern China, on 28th April when a fire took hold in its cargo trailer.

Terrifying video footage shows it speeding through the town's main street with huge flames leaping from its trailer, ready to explode the moment the flames caught the fuel tank.

The driver sounds his horn frantically as he warns cars and pedestrians to get out of the way, like a scene from a disaster movie.

And as the burning lorry passes just a few inches from terrified passers-by, it leaves a trail of flames from its burning tyres while thick, black smoke engulfs the street.

Local media reports say the heroic trucker drove on for more than three miles (5km) until he reached an uninhabited area where he could stop and leap to safety.

Astonishingly, no one was injured in the devastating high-speed blaze.

The driver, later named as dad of four-year-old twin sons Sun Gang, was praised for his courage.

Sun and his wife had just finished paying off a loan for the lorry when it was gutted by the fire.

But after the images appeared online, Chinese lorry manufacturer FAW Jiefang said that they would give Sun a free replacement as a reward for his bravery, according to local media reports.
