A woman has been ordered to pay her neighbour in the apartment below EUR 10,000 compensation for walking around her flat in noisy high heels.
Judges in Florence, Italy, agreed that the constant click-clack of her stilettos in the apartment block in Sesto Fiorentino for months on end was unbearable.
The court heard how the defendant had put down porcelain tiles on the floor of her flat in 2018, intensifying the racket.
After the plaintiff complained, a court ordered her upstairs neighbour to put down rugs or a carpet to muffle the noise.
But despite claims that she had put down 17 rugs, the noise just grew worse, the court was told.

A decibel reading taken for the long-suffering plaintiff showed the noise level exceeded the legal level for sound generated in a home.
During the trial, the defendant argued that the causes of the noise were linked to the structure of the building and were not her fault.
But judges dismissed the theory and awarded her neighbour EUR 10,000 (GBP 8,533.35) in compensation, less than half of the EUR 26,000 the plaintiff had asked for.
It is unclear if the upstairs neighbour plans to appeal the ruling.
