Dashcam footage has captured the moment a lorry lost its rear wheel on a busy motorway, with the driver seemingly unaware as the rogue tyre caused chaos behind him.

The incident occurred on the Moscow Ring Road (MKAD) near the 71st kilometre mark in the city of Moscow, Russia on Saturday, 3rd May.

In the video, as the vehicle filming comes alongside the lorry, one of its rear wheels detaches and rolls along behind the car before suddenly turning back into the slow lane and colliding with the crash barrier on the hard shoulder.

The tyre then moves back into the motorway, prompting all the traffic behind to slow down to avoid hitting it.

Meanwhile, the car driver overtakes the lorry, which can be seen continuing on despite the missing rear wheel.

The footage was shared on Russian social media with the caption: "The squad didn't notice the loss of a fighter".

The lorry driver has not been identified, and it is unclear when they eventually realised the wheel was missing.

There have been no reports of injuries or further accidents resulting from the incident.
