A 25-year-old woman left with horrific scars from a house fire who is now engaged to marry said she was fated to meet him after discovering they shared the same birthday.
Resilient Dai Wanyue suffered burns to 95 per cent of her body and lost nine fingers in the fire at her home in Suizhou, China, when she was just a child.

It happened in 2006, when Dai, who was only seven at the time, tried to surprise her pregnant mother with a meal but accidentally caused the open flames in the stove to spread across the kitchen.
Although she survived, Dai was left with severe third-degree burns, and had to undergo multiple surgeries at the hospital.
Her injuries were so bad that doctors were only able to save her left thumb and amputated the rest of her fingers.

She spent the next two years in a rehabilitation and re-learnt basic movements, including how to walk.
Her father, despite being heartbroken by what happened to his daughter, always encouraged her to stay strong and to one day stand on her own two feet.
Dai, who has a passion for design, followed his advice and studied hard and in 2019, she got accepted to the Wuhan Institute of Technology to study animation.
She also began working part-time as a photographer and started a social media page where she shares her creations.

She remained good-spirited no matter what which eventually earned her many friends.
During her time in university, she even met the love of her life, Zhu Shiyu.
Although Dai did not reveal much about her new love, she announced that the two got engaged this spring.
And during a ceremony held on 18th April, she also revealed that she knew they were meant to be when she found out they share the same birthday.

Images of the celebratory moment show Dai and her now fiance hand in hand, joyfully jumping up in the air.
She showed off their IDs which show they were both born on 17th May 1999, and said: "Fate is truly amazing."
She added: "Everyone has the right to live as their brightest self.
"With all these wonderful people in my life, I know I will be very happy."
