This is the moment a man-mountain fugitive turns the tables on cops during a terrifying shootout after a car chase.
The wild-bearded suspect had just stolen a Daihatsu SUV from his ex-wife and was being chased at high speed through Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, in Kamchatka Krai, in the Russian Far East, on 26th April.
But police video footage shows how they were sent running for cover after they thought they had cornered the 46-year-old man, when he pulled out a gun.
As two officers approach the driver's window, they suddenly sprint off as they see a gun in the suspect's hand.
While they run back to their patrol car, he calmly emerges from the SUV and unhurriedly takes aim before firing off two shots, one at the officer filming him from a dashcam.
The suspect barely even ducks when the officers fire back and simply keeps coming at them.
As the footage continues, shot after shot rings out as the officers take aim from the cover of their car and stalk the suspect around the stolen vehicle.
It later emerged that the suspect, who has not been named, was shot and received hospital treatment for bullet wounds.
The regional Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a statement: "During the attempted arrest, the driver pointed an object that looked like a firearm at one of the officers, then fired two shots in the direction of the patrol cars and several shots in the direction of the police officers."
The police investigation is ongoing.
