A police vehicle was captured on CCTV driving at high speed along a pavement during a pursuit, prompting an official inquiry into the officers' conduct.
The incident occurred in Asa Sul, a district of Brasília, Brazil's capital city, on 12th April.
Footage shows a Military Police car pursuing a suspect on a motorcycle who was riding on the pavement and ascending stairs to evade capture.
The chase was initiated after the motorcyclist failed to comply with a stop order and attempted to flee via pedestrian areas.
The video, shared on the official social media channels of the Military Police's ROTAM unit, has raised concerns about public safety during police operations.
In response, the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Federal District (MPDFT) has given the Military Police five days to explain the officers' actions during the pursuit.
The MPDFT is assessing whether the conduct of the officers posed undue risks to the public and if it adhered to legal and procedural standards.
The Military Police have yet to issue a public statement regarding the incident or the ensuing investigation.
