This is the moment a toughie gym cat dubbed 'Little Bull' shows a petrified pooch that he is the real top dog in the neighbourhood.

Hilarious security cam footage from Aracatuba, in the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil, on 8th May, shows the muscular moggie leap into action when he sees a pussy pal in trouble in the street.

The cat, Taurinho in Portuguese, forces his way through a glass door and sprints full pelt into the street to defend his female pal, named Dochinio, or Candy in English.

Living up to his name he rams the dog at full speed making him drop the cat from its jaws and back off.

When it tries to come on again he flies at its face and slashes at it with his claws.

And as the clip closes, the punch-drunk pooch finally shows it is just one big scaredy-cat and turns tail to flee.

Gym staff said Taurinho is a popular with clients and is known for his laid-back personality and fondness for lounging on the equipment.

The video quickly went viral online with over seven million views, with social media users praising Taurinho's bravery and protective instincts.

One Instagram user called 'carou_correa' said: "He gave her cover so she could get up and run. I got goosebumps. Thank you angel, you are a true hero..."

Another viewer, 'tumultuous' said: "What a brave sweet cat!!! So impressive! So touching!"

And 'jaderarica.professor' commented: "You should now get a statue of him and put it on a stand at the entrance, he deserves it."
