A delivery lorry collided with a height restriction warning sign at the entrance of a tunnel after the driver misjudged the vehicle's clearance limit.
The incident occurred at the European-side entrance of the Eurasia Tunnel in Istanbul, which connects the European and Asian parts of the city beneath the Bosphorus Strait, in Turkey, on Wednesday, 14th May.
The box truck, approaching the tunnel, failed to adhere to the posted height restrictions, resulting in the vehicle striking the overhead warning sign.
Dashcam footage from the scene shows the truck approaching the tunnel entrance and colliding with the sign, causing debris to scatter across the roadway.
No injuries were reported, but the collision led to temporary traffic disruptions as authorities cleared the debris and inspected the site for damage.
The Eurasia Tunnel, officially opened in December 2016, is a 3.4-mile double-deck road tunnel designed to alleviate traffic congestion in Istanbul by providing a direct route between the city's European and Asian sides.
The tunnel has specific height restrictions to ensure the safety of vehicles passing through its confined spaces.
Authorities have reminded drivers to observe all posted signage and adhere to vehicle height restrictions to prevent similar incidents in the future.
