A dancer who suffered agonising burns over 90 per cent of her body after a fire dance went horrifically wrong has shown off her astonishing first steps on her fight for recovery.

Trained ballerina Laura Daniela Villamil, 28, was engulfed in flames when her straw skirt caught fire during a performance at a restaurant in Chia, Colombia nine months ago.
Laura was rushed to hospital where she spent seven months undergoing 17 different operations and extensive physiotherapy.
Now amazing new footage of her gruelling recovery released by Laura on Instagram shows her at times close to tears as she learns how to move her body again.
One scene shows her cautious first steps as she shuffles along a hospital ward floor on a walking frame.

Others show her relearning how to manipulate her legs with dancing and football.
And Laura flashes a brave smile for the camera as she uses a crosstrainer to build up her strength and stamina.
It is a far cry from the gruesome footage from August last year (2024), where Laura's flaming torch sets her grass skirt ablaze during a performance.

Within seconds her entire body is a column of searing flames as she runs around the performance floor in agony before the clip ends.
Laura has described her recovery as a "second chance" and is still going through gruelling physiotherapy sessions.
Her brother Santiago Villamil says she will undergo a new op in four months (09/25) to help with her recovery.
