A drink-driver fleeing police crashed his Hyundai crossover into a pole at high speed, knocking out power to part of the city.

The incident occurred in the city of Krasnoturyinsk, in Sverdlovsk Region, Russia, on Sunday, 11th May.

The driver, reportedly intoxicated, attempted to evade a traffic police pursuit before losing control and colliding with a utility pole.

The crash caused significant damage to the electrical infrastructure, resulting in a power outage affecting several neighbourhoods.

Despite the severity of the crash, the driver survived and was taken into custody by authorities.
