A driver was apprehended by police following a high-speed pursuit, during which four stolen BMW motorbikes were discovered concealed in his rented van.

The incident occurred in Ivanovice na Hane, a town in the Vyskov District of the South Moravian Region, Czech Republic, on Wednesday, 7th May.

The pursuit began after a 28-year-old man from Vienna, Austria, reported his BMW motorbike stolen and suspected it was being transported north.

Acting on this information, Austrian authorities coordinated with Czech police to intercept the suspect vehicle.

The Fiat van, bearing stolen Austrian license plates, was tracked from Vienna all the way to the Czech city of Brno.

Upon reaching the Vyskov region, the driver exited the motorway, likely aware of the police surveillance.

Czech police located and stopped the van in Ivanovice na Hane.

The driver attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended.

Upon inspection, officers found four BMW motorbikes, each valued at over CZK 500,000 (GBP 17,000), hidden in the cargo area.

The driver, reportedly of Polish origin, admitted to renting the van and stealing the license plates in Austria.
