This is the drag race moment a driver tries to flee a traffic stop by speeding off with a desperate police officer clinging to his door.

CCTV footage from Tyumen, southern Russia, from 9th May shows the Lada car racing away from a routine documents check.

But one officer refuses to let him get away and clutches the open driver's door being scraped along the street as the suspect tries to shake him off.

Eventually the driver is forced to pull up and is instantly surrounded by police patrol cars and officers.

The clip finishes with the driver being dragged from the car and seized by clearly angry officers.

The 22-year-old driver, whose name was not disclosed, is being held on charges of endangering the life of a police officer and resisting arrest.
