A street cleaner was struck by a car while crossing a busy highway, as captured in dramatic CCTV footage from the scene.

The incident occurred in Sayansk, Irkutsk Oblast, Russia, where the 37-year-old man was hit by a VAZ-21124 vehicle while crossing outside of a designated pedestrian crossing on 7th May.

The driver, a 26-year-old resident of Sayansk, was not physically injured but was reported to be mentally affected by the accident.

The injured man was transported to a hospital; his current condition has not been disclosed.

Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident.
