GOT YOUR GOAT? Is This Viral Video Of Gravity-Defying Goat For Real?

A bizarre video of what is supposed to be a gravity-defying goat walking along power lines in Brazil has been exposed as a butt-headed prank.

The video, alternately billed as happening in Thailand, Nigeria and Brazil depending on what social media account you look at, is supposed to show a goat perched on overhead electricity cables as it nibbles a mouthful of green shrubbery.

NewsX video editor Aloysius Fernandes said: "It looks like a fake to me, and from what I can see, a pretty clumsy one at that.

"I say that because there are a number of indications that this might not be the real thing.

"You have to ask yourself why a goat would shuffle all the way out there to nibble on a piece of weed when the street below is full of lush vegetation.

"And why isn't anyone walking underneath in the street looking at what's supposed to be going on up there?"

The expert added that careful study of pixels surrounding the goat's hooves show a blurred grey patch under the wire said to be supporting its front left leg, a classic giveaway of manipulation.

And just ahead of its feet there can be seen a clear break in the power cable, a typical tell of clumsy image editing.

The computer glitch breaks the line. This kind of screen glitch happens in AI and CGI videos. Note: Image is a screenshot from video. (Newsflash/NX)

Then the goat's hind left hoof does not appear to be standing on anything at all and simply hovers in mid-air.

The images appeared in various media under the apparently prophetic headline 'Unbelievable'.

The NewsX team first spotted the story on 5th April where there was an indication it was in Bangkok, it then moved to social media claims that it was in Benin City in Nigeria, and a day later to Ceara in Brazil, but interestingly not in any credible local news sources, only social media.

One way of checking out would be by confirming which countries the street signs are from, so if any eagle eyed Daily Goat readers can help out by proving this is true or false, we want to hear from you using the "contact us" link here on our web page.
