Two men have died after inhaling too much toxic gas while cleaning a storage tank at a caramelised milk factory.

The two workers, Santiago Vicintini, 21, and Victor Adrian Loza, 35, were reportedly poisoned by gas while cleaning the tank near Rio Primero, in Cordoba, in Argentina, on Saturday morning, 12th April.

The men were working at a dulce de leche factory. Dulce de leche is a type of caramelised milk that is popular in Latin America and is prepared by slowly heating sugar and milk for several hours.

The main theory behind their deaths is that the tank they were working on was giving off toxic gases due to vermicomposting.

Vermicomposting is a type of composting where worms break down organic matter.

One of the workers was cleaning the tank when he began to feel unwell and called for help.

The second worker came to his aid but was also overwhelmed by the gases.

They both allegedly fainted and fell into the water in the tank, where they were later found lifeless.
