This is the moment a walrus sits at a table and eats a feast prepared by its caretakers at an ocean park.
The video was released by Haihe’an Qingdao Polar Ocean Park in Qingdao, Shinan District, Shandong province, China, on 15th February.
Footage posted by the park shows a walrus named Mai Rui sitting at a table wearing a custom-made shirt while being fed a specially prepared meal. Two keepers sit beside him and feed him with chopsticks as he eats.
The clip quickly attracted attention on social media, where some users joked: “Where is the AI prompt?”
In response to the speculation, keeper Qu Qilei said the video was not generated by artificial intelligence and that the animal was genuinely eating and drinking.
According to the keeper, the park prepared 12 special Lunar New Year dishes for Mai Rui during the Spring Festival holiday period, including Spanish mackerel and Arctic mackerel dumplings.
Qu said Mai Rui is a well-known “internet celebrity” animal at the park. He added that other popular animals at the attraction include a polar bear named Huan Huan, a beluga whale named Dou Dou, described as having visible abdominal muscles, and a false killer whale nicknamed “Big Brother” that is known for making ice.
