This is the moment a small plane narrowly avoids hitting three horses that galloped onto the runway as it was landing.

The incident happened at Narcisa Navas Airport in the municipality of Acandi, in the Choco department of Colombia, at around 2:30pm on Saturday, 31st January.

Passengers on board the light aircraft were left badly shaken as the plane was touching down when three horses unexpectedly entered the airstrip during the landing sequence.

Video footage shows the aircraft coming in at speed while someone films the approach from nearby, before the three animals suddenly dash through a fence and onto the runway.

The video shows the plane continuing along the tarmac as the horses cross its path and only narrowly avoiding a collision as the pilot manages to move the plane slightly to the side of the runway.

At least six people were on board the aircraft at the time of the incident, according to reports.

Witnesses who recorded the scene can be heard shouting in alarm as the horses sense the danger and then turn back when the aircraft comes within just a few feet of them, narrowly avoiding contact.

Despite the dramatic encounter, the aircraft completed its landing run without suffering damage, and no injuries were reported among passengers or crew.

Locals have urged authorities to exercise greater control over animals near the airport in Capurgana, noting that a similar incident involving a dog had been reported at the same location in recent days.

Colombia’s Civil Aviation Authority has not yet issued an official statement on the incident.
