This shocking footage shows a huge cargo ship hitting and sinking a small fishing boat, with one sailor leaping for his life in an incident that left one dead and one injured.
The crash happened on the Volga River, near the Shelekhmet pier in the Samara region of Russia, on Sunday, 28th September.
Footage shows the dry cargo ship Tartu striking the Neman-400 boat as it moves across the river.
After the collision, the massive vessel pushes the much smaller vessel in front of it, with one person standing on the bow of the sinking boat and leaping into the water at the last minute in a bid to avoid being crushed by the cargo ship.
The struck vessel then disappears under the larger ship, with the Transport Prosecutor’s Office confirming that one person died in the incident.
A second passenger, a 60-year-old man, was injured, and it is unclear if he was the one who jumped into the water or if he was another person not clearly seen in the footage.
