A man returning home from work had the shock of his life when he stepped into his garden and found a Russian drone lying on top of his rabbit hutch.

The discovery happened in the village of Bychawka Trzecia, Poland, on Wednesday, 10th September.

A picture from the scene shows the large unmanned aerial vehicle resting across the roof of the rabbit hutch.

The owner said the drone appeared largely intact but showed signs of makeshift repairs, with parts held together by duct tape. He believed it may have clipped a nearby power line before crashing onto the hutches.

Local authorities confirmed that police, firefighters, and Military Police attended the site and established a safety zone with a radius of several hundred metres.

Beata Syk-Jankowska, spokeswoman for the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Lublin, said: "The drone is intact. It is not in parts, but the entire object. An on-site examination is underway."

The incident was one of at least 19 confirmed drone crashes across Poland after Russian unmanned aerial vehicles entered Polish airspace in a wave of attacks on Ukraine.

Nine of the drones were located in the Lublin Voivodeship, which borders both Ukraine and Belarus.

In a separate case, another drone struck a house in the village of Wyryki, damaging a roof and a parked car.

By Wednesday evening, police and emergency services confirmed they had located debris from 16 drones and the remains of a missile across several provinces.

Poland's Government Security Centre has issued alerts across seven provinces, urging residents to report any drone sightings or debris. Officials said none of the drones recovered so far contained explosives.
