An Indian technician working in Dubai scooped up GBP 3 million and has told how he plans to return home to start a business and a new life with the huge lottery winning.

The draw took place in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates on 3rd September.

Sandeep Kumar Prasad, 30, originally from the state of Uttar Pradesh in India and working at Dubai Drydocks, bought the winning ticket number 200669 on 19th August as part of a group of 20 people.

Sandeep said he had only been buying tickets regularly for three months before he won.

After learning he won the huge jackpot of AED 15 million (GBP 3 million), he said: "For the first time in my life, there is so much happiness."

Sandeep has lived in the UAE for three years and has a wife, two brothers, and a sister.

He explained that he plans to use the prize to support his family, particularly to help his father with health concerns.

He added that he wants to return to India and start his own business.

Six other participants in the Abu Dhabi Big Ticket Series 278 draw won AED 100,000 (GBP 20,270) each.

A BMW M440i was also won in the September 3rd draw by Shameem Moolathil Hamza Moolathil, an Indian expatriate living in Abu Dhabi.
