A singer's screams of terror when a colleague arranged for a tame bear to run at them during a picnic turned real when the animal attacked the group and left one man needing emergency treatment.

The incident took place in Russia on 5th August as singer Gulnaz Asaeva and her team were filming a prank video while celebrating her concert director’s birthday at an outdoor location between the neighbouring republics of Bashkiria and Tatarstan.

Footage shared by the singer shows the moment a large brown bear suddenly appears from behind a grassy hill and charges at the group.

Shouts and screams can be heard as the terrified guests flee.

A second image shows a man sitting in an ambulance with bloodied clothes, later confirmed to be the singer's concert director Vadim Fatkhinurov.

Asaeva later told fans the bear had been brought in as a joke by Fatkhinurov as part of the prank shoot.

She said: "We decided to shoot a video, and each of the participants prepared a prank in advance, but nobody knew what the others were planning.

"Vadim decided to bring in a tame bear. Naturally, when we saw it, we were shocked, screaming and squealing.

"I thought we were living the last seconds of our lives, because the bear was running straight at us."

She added that things got out of control and the bear injured Fatkhinurov during the chaos. No update has yet been given on his condition.

Asaeva, who performs in the Tatar language and is popular in the region, was not harmed in the incident.

She has since reassured fans she is safe but admitted the prank had gone "too far".
