The gruesomely executed body of a blonde woman was discovered in a luxury apartment when her blood ran down the walls into a child's bedroom below.

Victim Anne Leigh McKenzie, 27, had been shot twice in the triplex penthouse in Curitiba, in the Brazilian state of Parana, by her partner, who then killed himself, say police.

Horrified neighbours called the police when their nine-year-old son showed them blood seeping through from the ceiling above his bedroom and running down the wall.

Grim police evidence photos show blood pooling on the ceiling and then running down the wall like a scene from a horror movie.

Further pictures show the boy's blood-spattered bedspread.

Police say South African national Anne Leigh had been shot first on 19th July before her partner, named as Ian Alexander Bruder, turned the gun on himself.

She had arrived in Brazil just one day earlier, reports local media.

Inside the apartment, the police found a small arsenal of weapons and ammunition, including a 9mm Glock handgun with the serial numbers filed off.

They also seized a 50-bullet drum magazine, hundreds of rounds of ammo, drugs, syringes, laptops and multiple mobile phones, the cops said.

Police chief Aline Manzatto explained: "The victim was shot twice in the head, and the man then shot himself once. 

"He was carrying a 9mm Glock pistol.

"It caught our attention because there was a lot of ammunition in the house, magazine extenders, and even a snail-shaped magazine with a capacity of 50 rounds.

"We also found drugs, a substance similar to cocaine."

Police in Brazil are investigating the double death.
