This footage shows bathers trying to enjoy a day at the beach despite massive quantities of algae washing up on shore and ending up in a massive green pile.
The images were filmed in Shandong, in China, with the footage shared on Douyin, which is what TikTok is called in China, on 13th July.
The video shows adults and children alike enjoying a day at the beach and attempting to remove some of the algae from the surf.
As they work, the pile of green seaweed quickly grows, ending up absolutely massive as a result of their combined efforts.
Local media reports said that a large-scale outbreak of Enteromorpha in some sea areas of Yantai City, Shandong Province, had captured the public's attention, with many saying that the green aquatic plants make the sea look like it is made of grass.
The Enteromorpha plant is a seaweed from the Ulvaceae family and its Enteromorpha intestinalis variant is known to regularly travel up the river Seine from the Channel, all the way to Paris.

Professor Wang Kai from the School of Fisheries at Ludong University said that the unusual event is known as algae bloom, which mainly occurs when nutrients accumulate in the sea during high temperatures.
These blooms deplete oxygen in the water and block sunlight, which can be fatal for marine life.
