This is the haunting moment a biker films 'beautiful' brown bears he spotted on a road trip just a day before one attacked and ate him.

Italian airport worker Omar Farang Zin, 48, had stopped by the side of Romania's Transfagarasan highway, to record wild bears he had spotted on 3rd July.

But as he moved in for a close-up one of them pounced on him without warning and dragged him into the roadside forest, his travel companions told police.

Within seconds screaming Omar had disappeared into the dense woodland as he fought desperately to free himself.

Rescuers followed a trail of blood and human tissue that led them 60 metres (200 feet) into a ravine deep in the woods to what was left of Omar's body.

Mountain rangers retrieved his remains which have been handed over to forensic experts for an autopsy.

The attack reportedly happened right next to a sign warning visitors to keep away from bears.

In his social media clip posted the day before he died Omar says: "Here's a bear! How beautiful! It's coming towards me."

He appears to have photographed several others, and even posed for a selfie with one.

Omar captioned his post: "Today’s stars were the brown bears, but the landscapes were like something out of a fairytale."

The Transfagarasan highway has been dubbed "the most beautiful road in the world" by former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson.

But Forestry District officials say the area is overpopulated by bears and is currently home to around 112 animals.

They claim that many tourists ignore warnings not to get close to them hoping to get pictures.

Just a month earlier at the end of May, two other tourists, a man from Poland and a woman from Spain, were also attacked by a bear.
