A tourist has drowned after she took off her life jacket to pose for photos on a famous beach with pink sand and a wave swept her out to sea.
The 32-year-old Chinese woman, named as Qiu Yan, was posing for snaps on Indonesia's famous Pink Beach on Komodo Island, which itself is famous for its Komodo dragons, at around 9:30am on 18th June.
She had arrived with a group of tourists to see the sights and go for a dip, and although everyone was given life jacket, she reportedly refused to put one on initially.

She then went into the water while wearing it but removed it a short while later to pose for photographs, according to reports.
Qiu was then hit by strong waves and swept out to sea before being rescued and brought back to shore unconscious and with blood running from her nose as well as foam around her mouth.

Attempts to revive her failed and she was rushed for medical treatment, but there was nothing that could be done and she was declared dead due to the large amount of seawater that had filled her lungs.
Local reports said that the sea had been rough that morning.
The authorities are investigating the tourist's death.
