A 28-year-old climber has been found dead a day after he was swept away by an avalanche as he scaled a 12,000-foot Alpine peak with a friend.
Fabio Trevisan had been engulfed by the avalanche on the Koenigspitze near South Tyrol in Italy on 30th May.
Astonishingly, the friend he had been climbing with escaped unhurt, even though he was just feet from Trevisan when the wall of snow and ice hit.

Mountain rescue teams equipped with two helicopters and sniffer dogs tried to locate him by tracing his mobile phone signal.
But the search had to be called off for the day as night fell and there was a risk of further avalanches.

The following day, on 31st May, Trevisan's body was found buried in snow 300 metres (1,000 feet) from where the avalanche hit.
The Koenigspitze stands 3,857 metres (12,654 feet) tall and is the second-highest peak in the Ortler Alps.
