A Mazda driver was rushed to hospital after slamming into a utility pole without appearing to brake.
The crash happened in the small city of Pokhvistnevo in Russia's Samara Oblast on Tuesday, 27th May.
Dramatic footage from multiple CCTV and dashcams shows the white saloon veering off the road and smashing straight into the pole at high speed.
There are no signs of the driver braking or attempting to steer away from the impact.
Local police say they are investigating whether the driver suffered a sudden medical emergency or was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
A law enforcement source told local reporters the lack of any evasive action made it "highly likely" that the driver was either incapacitated or unaware of the danger.
A witness who rushed to the scene said: "He just kept going — didn't even touch the brakes."
Another added: "We thought maybe he’d passed out. There wasn’t even a swerve."
Rescue crews arrived quickly and managed to pull the driver from the wreckage before transporting him to hospital.
No updates have yet been given on the man's condition.
The impact left the utility pole cracked and tilted, causing a brief power outage in the surrounding area.
Police have also not ruled out mechanical failure and say all possibilities are being investigated.
