A three-year-old boy has survived after being run over by a car while playing in the street, with video footage showing him walking away unharmed.

The incident happened in the city of Istanbul, Turkey, in front of the boy's home where he had been playing outside with relatives on 26th May.

Footage shows the boy, named locally as Muhammet, darting across the road when a white car drives directly over him.

Bystanders rush in panic as the car comes to an immediate stop and the boy is seen standing up seemingly unscathed.

The boy's aunt, who witnessed the scene, said: "We were sitting on the balcony.

"My nephew was playing in front of the house.

"Suddenly, I saw the car hit him and I screamed.

"I ran down – thank God he was alive."

She said the child had been scared but had no serious injuries.

She said: "He was scared and trembling, but miraculously, there wasn’t a single injury."

The driver of the car initially appeared unaware of what had happened but was alerted by locals who screamed after the incident.

He stopped briefly and was seen speaking with neighbours before leaving.

Locals expressed concern about cars driving quickly down narrow streets where children often play.

They criticised the lack of speed bumps or safety measures in the area.

The child was taken to hospital as a precaution and was found to be uninjured apart from slight bruising.
