A brother and sister have been found murdered in each other's arms after being stabbed to death.

The bodies were discovered at a durian plantation in Pesisir Barat Regency, a coastal province in Lampung, Indonesia, on 14th May.

The victims, eight-year-old Arjun Tauladan and his four-year-old sister Kholifah Khoirunisa, had left home earlier that day to collect durians after asking their parents for permission.

According to family members, the siblings were inseparable and often played together around the plantation. 

When they failed to return home, their frantic family raised the alarm and neighbours launched a desperate search.

Their lifeless bodies were found in a nearby orchard, lying in a pool of blood with the boy clutching his sister tightly in a final embrace.

Police said both children had suffered multiple slash wounds and severe head injuries, believed to have been inflicted with a sharp weapon.

Their skulls and faces were missing. One of Arjun’s arms had been severed and left at the scene. His abdomen bore a deep, gaping wound.

Officers are now investigating the deaths as suspected murders.

A search of the surrounding area uncovered several key pieces of evidence at the scene, including a machete and a wooden stick believed to have been used in the brutal incident.

Local police chief AKBP Alsyahendra confirmed an autopsy was carried out and investigations were ongoing.

According to family members, the siblings were inseparable and often played together around the plantation.

It is believed they were ambushed shortly after entering the orchard.

No arrests have yet been made.

Residents in the village have been left terrified by the killings and are demanding justice.

The tragic deaths have sparked grief and anger throughout the province.
