A nine-year-old boy was struck by a car while riding his scooter in a residential courtyard, as captured in this shocking CCTV footage.

The incident occurred in the courtyard of a residential complex in Novosibirsk, a city in south-western Siberia, Russia, on 14th May.

Video footage captured the moment the child, riding his scooter, unexpectedly entered the roadway from the pavement and was hit by a passing car.

The boy was taken to a local hospital with injuries.

His current condition has not been disclosed.

Local authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
