A lorry loaded with fireworks erupted into a spectacular blaze after a collision on a busy expressway, sending plumes of smoke and showers of sparks skyward.
The dramatic explosion happened on the Erguang Expressway in Jincheng, in the province of Shanxi, China, on 21st May.
The lorry, which was packed with fireworks for transport, caught fire following a crash with another vehicle while travelling on the busy expressway.
Traffic was halted in both directions as flames and smoke engulfed the vehicle, with loud bangs heard as the fireworks ignited.
Footage showed showers of sparks shooting into the air as emergency crews scrambled to reach the scene.
Police confirmed there were no injuries in the blast, but the expressway was closed for several hours while the fire was brought under control.

Authorities said the vehicle had been transporting fireworks legally and the driver managed to escape unharmed.
Drivers nearby were urged to remain in their vehicles until the area was declared safe.
The local government is investigating whether proper safety measures were followed during the transport.
