A man hurled acid at his ex-wife’s father and sister outside their home, leaving both injured, in a shocking attack captured on CCTV.

The assault took place in Esenyurt, a district in Istanbul Province, Turkey, on Saturday, 17th May.

The assailant, identified as 34-year-old Hakan K., had been separated from his wife, Ayse Karslioglu, for five years and was in the midst of a protracted divorce process.

According to reports, Ayse had filed for divorce in 2022, and a court ruling was issued on 9th May 2025, which Hakan K. appealed.

Prior to the attack, Ayse had reported receiving threats from her estranged husband, including warnings that he would disfigure her face with acid.

On the day of the incident, Hakan K. approached the family home and called out to Ayse's father, Zeki Yilmaz, from outside.

When Zeki refused to come out, Hakan K. threw a bottle containing acid through the window, striking him in the face.

Ayse's sister, Aycan Yilmaz, was also injured on her arms while attempting to shield their father.

Both victims were treated at a local hospital and later filed a complaint with the police.

Ayse stated that she had previously reported her husband’s threats and that he had attacked her home with stones in 2023.

She expressed fear for her life, saying: "If I had been at home, he would have thrown the acid at my face."

It is understood that police are currently searching for Hakan K. to arrest him.
