This is the horrifying moment a man puts a gun to his head and pulls the trigger during a drunken game of Russian roulette.

Shocking CCTV footage filmed in Conchal, in the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil, from 3rd May shows the victim apparently negotiating a bet with another man.

As a man wearing a blue-and-white striped shirt counts out banknotes, the victim, wearing white, fiddles nervously with the revolver.

While they apparently discuss the wager, the man with the gun puts the barrel to his right temple and pulls the trigger.

Instantly his trucker cap is knocked sideways by the blast and he falls to the ground.

Meanwhile, the other man snatches up the cash and flees as the clip comes to an end.

Witnesses told police that the victim had been drinking when one pal suggested Russian roulette, where players take turns to fire a gun at their heads loaded with just one bullet.

Other party-goers drove the victim to hospital in the back of a pickup truck where he was declared dead on arrival.

Police say they have opened a criminal investigation involving the illegal use of a firearm.

A police spokesperson said: "This is a horrific example of how a moment of recklessness can cost a life.

"We urge people to understand that firearms are not toys, and games like this only end in disaster."
