Ilaria Sula, 22, was found murdered in the Italian capital Rome, with the suspect, named as Mark Antony Samson, 23, a Filipino national, being arrested for the crime and reportedly confessing to murder on Friday, 4th April.
Samson told police he attacked the victim with a kitchen knife after he allegedly saw "a message from another boy" on her phone.
His mother has been named as Nors Mazlapan, and she is suspected of having colluded with her son to hide the body.
Mazlapan reportedly entered her son's bedroom after hearing a bloodcurdling scream and discovered the young woman's lifeless body.

She then allegedly helped her son clean up the crime scene and clean up bloodstains.
Then, the two allegedly dumped Ilaria's body in a suitcase at the bottom of a cliff.
Afterwards, brutal Samson went to have lunch with his friends, acting like nothing happened.

He also took the time to delete all social media profiles off the victim's phone and sent reassuring messages to her friends and family.
An autopsy confirmed that Ilaria died of severe blood loss.
Samson claimed he carried out the fatal attack on 26th March because he felt "uncontrollable anger" mixed with jealousy.
He also claimed the two had dated for two years but Ilaria was starting to rethink the relationship after realising that her architecture student boyfriend had poor grades.
Samson has been charged with voluntary homicide aggravated by an emotional relationship and concealment of a corpse.

The authorities are still looking for the knife he allegedly used to kill Ilaria, who suffered three deep stab wounds and a fourth superficial wound, all to her neck.
The police reportedly continue to comb through the suspects' house, with the investigation looking into the young man's parents and attempting to determine if they played a role in the murder or in hiding the body.
The Rome Prosecutor's Office has authorised the burial of Ilaria, which was set to take place on Monday, 7th April, in her hometown of Terni, in Umbria.
The investigation is ongoing.
